After watching yet another story of ‘when insurance goes bad’ on Tuesday June 29 (on Campbell Live), I thought I should let you know that you can get medical insurance that will pay for treatment with non-Pharmac funded drugs if you get sick.
The story was about Raewyn Whitelaw who has cancer, but Southern Cross wouldn’t pay for treatment with the non-Pharmac funded drug Rituximab. Her doctors had advised her that this drug would keep her in remission longer, but her insurance wouldn’t cover it.
